The protest march organized by the People’s Movement Against Increased Electricity Tariff will take place this afternoon (May 15) at 2pm at Campbell Park in Borella.
The Private Bus Owners Association President, Gemunu Wijeyratne stated that his organization too will extend its support towards the protest march while UNP General Secretary Tissa Attanayake also pledged the support of the party to this cause.
The SLMC too will support the march after Leader Rauf Hakeem met with trade unionists yesterday.
The Committee for a Joint Trade Union Alliance will also join in the protest according to its convener Wasantha Samarasinghe.
Meanwhile, neither the People’s Movement Against Increased Electricity Tariff nor the PBOA have taken a decision on whether to join the mass protest organized on May 21 against the increased electricity tariff.
