Sri Lanka Cricket has not been formally informed of allegations concerning spot fixing in the Sri Lankan Premier League but continues to take a zero-tolerance stand against corruption, Secretary of the SLC, Nishantha Ranatunga stated.
According to crime branch sources, arrested actor Vindu Dara Singh has told the investigators that two bookies, named Sanjay and Pawan, were the “benami” owners of one of the franchises in the Sri Lanka Premier League (SLPL), a Twenty-20 tournament modeled on the lines of the IPL, Indian media reports stated.
The Deccan Chronicle reported that a Hindi film actor Vindoo Dara Singh’s arrest led the Mumbai police to the doorstep of the alleged owner of the Chennai Super Kings, Gurunath Meiyappan, in a spot fixing probe at the IPL.
Ranatunga said that it is awaiting information on the matter from Indian officials and that the SLC would not tolerate corruption.
