All lectures and exam related activities at Art, Management and Law faculties of the Colombo University have been temporarily postponed till Monday (June 10) due to a dengue outbreak at the university.
The decision was taken as chemicals were used to clear several dengue mosquito breeding areas existing within the university premises, a spokesman said.
Several dengue mosquito hotbeds were located within the university following an inspection carried out by the Health Department of the Colombo Municipal Council (CMC) yesterday.
The CMC officials had instructed university authorities to immediately clean the building belonging to the Law and Management faculties.
At least 20 students of the law faculty had contracted dengue fever within the past month while one student of the management faculty is currently in the ICU of the Colombo National Hospital.
