Peliyagoda Municipal Councillor arrested over assault incident

A UPFA member of the Peliyagoda Municipal Council was arrested over his alleged involvement in an assault case, Police Media Spokesman, SP Buddhika Siriwardena stated.

 

The assault had occurred on the Colombo-Katunayaka highway last Monday.

 

The two victims of the assault have been hospitalized and are currently receiving treatment at the Colombo National Hospital, police reported.

 

The police spokesman stated that the Municipal Councillor was arrested when he arrived at hospital for treatment following the incident.

 

The Peliyagoda Police are conducting further inquiries into the incident.
