Man shot dead in Neluwa

A person was shot and killed in the Kukulkanda area in Neluwa last night by two gunmen. The victim, Liyanage Karunaratne, 59, had succumbed to gunshot injurious on the spot, police said.
The shooting was carried out by two individuals at around 7.30pm yesterday while residents in the area had managed to capture one of them and hand him over to the police. The other suspect however had fled.
The arrested suspect was admitted to the Neluwa Hospital with injuries and has been transferred to the Karapitiya Hospital for further treatment.
Police had also recovered a 12-Bore gun used in the shooting which was found in the scene of the crime. Neluwa Police are conducing further investigations.
