Principal accused of soliciting sexual bribe granted bail

The principal of the Kottawa Ananda Vidyalaya who was arrested on charges of soliciting a sexual bribe was granted bail by the Colombo Chief Magistrate today (September 18).


He was arrested by officers of the Commission to Investigate Allegation of Bribery or Corruption at a hotel in Werahera while he had allegedly requested for a sexual bribe from a mother in order to enroll her son to a Grade 1 class in the school.


The suspect was granted Rs.15,000 cash bail as well as two sets of surety bail at Rs.500,000 each while the case will be taken up again on November 13.
