The appointing of Chief Ministers for the Central and North Western Provinces will be decided at the next Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) central committee meeting, Minister Susil Premajayantha said.
He stated that the SLFP’s central committee is scheduled to gather after President Mahinda Rajapaksa returns from his ongoing U.S. visit.
Decisions will be made on naming the Chief Ministers and the other Ministers for the two Provincial Councils at the meeting, the Minister of Environment and Renewable Energy said.
He stated that the appointing of elected candidates for the main electorates will also be decided at the central committee meeting.
However, former MP Dayasiri Jayasekara who received the highest preference votes from the Kurunegala District yesterday stated that he expects to be sworn in as the Chief Minister of the North Western Province.
Anuradha Jayaratne, son of Prime Minister D.M. Jayaratne, who received the highest preference votes from the Kandy District is likely to be appointed as the Central Province Chief Minsiter.
Meanwhile the Tamil National Alliance (TNA) has unanimously elected retired judge C.V. Vigneswaran as the Chief Minister for the Northern Province.
