Puttalam court postpones case regarding three bags of ballot papers

The Puttalam District Court postponed the hearing of the case regarding the three bags of marked ballot papers found at a counting center in Puttalam until October 9.
A tense situation arose in the Puttalam Town after three bags filled with used ballot papers were found inside the building of a school in Puttalam yesterday (September 24).
The three polythene bags filled with ballot papers were discovered by a worker at St. Andrew’s Central College, which was used as a counting center for the Provincial Council election.
The individual had then proceeded to report the matter to the District Returning Officer, Assistant Elections Commissioner, Police and other residents in the area.
The respective officials had then arrived at the school in order to inspect the ballot papers, Ada Derana reporter said.
He stated that the ballot papers are believed to have been counted and left behind when the ballot papers were transported to the District Secretariat for storage.
