Two students drowned in the Wilatalawa Lake in the Iddapola area of Mahaoya last evening (October 14), police stated.
The students along with a larger group had got into the lake to pluck lotus flowers, the Mahaoya police stated.
The two students were 13 years of age and both residents of the Mahaoya area.
The bodies were taken to the Mahaoya hospital where a post mortem will be conducted today (October 15).
