Tangled in a “dream” about CHOGM, the government is now is following an “anti-people” policy by avoiding the problems of the masses, the United National Party (UNP) charged today.

Similar to the previous dreams of a “miracle” and a bright future (Suba Anagathayak), the government is now attempting trap the people in the dream which is the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM), UNP Media Spokesman Gayantha Karunathilaka said.  

He charged that the government has no process to provide solutions to the country’s people who are suffering due to the cost of living, unemployment, social injustice and lawlessness.  

“It is now clear to us that the UPFA government has failed in providing solutions to the people,” he said.

The Galle District MP accused the government of attempting to save itself and cover up existing issues by hiding behind the veil of CHOGM.

Karunathilaka further said that rebellions have started to sprout within the ruling government itself and that the initials shots have been fired in Pradeshiya Sabhas and Provincial Councils.

He stated that the Sri Lanka Freedom Party has summoned its MPs to Colombo, disciplinary inquiries have been launched and memberships suspended.    

“It is clear to the people that the UPFA government is not showing the miracle of Asia or a bright future but the end of the road,” he said.
