UPDATE: Nothing can be achieved by boycotting SL - Seychelles President

President of Seychelles James Alix Michel says that nothing could be achieved by boycotting or criticizing Sri Lanka and urged other nations to provide assistance instead.
He stated that there was a need to modernize the international institutions so that all the nations are represented in a fairer way than it is today. He added to this that the institutions were based on post-world war II ideas and that globalisation had changed the world since then.
Speaking on the issues pertaining to the allegations of human rights violations in Sri Lanka, the President said that there could have been atrocities committed from either side but that this was the time to heal and rehabilitate the devastated part of the country.
He said that nothing will be achieved by boycotting Sri Lanka and that the international community has to work with Sri Lanka to move forward.
He also commended the progress that Sri Lanka had already made, citing development work in the war-affected areas.
