Following an order issued by the Fort Magistrate’s Court restraining the protest in front of the Presidential Secretariat, participants in the ‘satyagraha’ have taken steps to remove the temporary huts erected near Galle Road.

The police had requested a court order to prevent demonstrations from taking place in front of the Presidential Secretariat, which is located within a High Security Zone.

Accordingly, the Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court issued the order, and the police took measures to read it out and serve it on the Buddhist monks participating in the protest in front of the Presidential Secretariat.

A group including Buddhist monks, who joined the “Nidahase Paada Yaathraa” (March for Freedom), organised under the leadership of the Maha Sangha to demand the release of Venerable Galagoda Aththe Gnanasara Thero, had been occupying the roadside in front of the Presidential Secretariat since yesterday.
