A significant amount of earth from the landslide-prone hillside near Kadigamuwa Railway Station once again slid onto the railway tracks early this morning (17).
As a result, railway authorities have indicated that trains departing from Polgahawela to Gampola, as well as services operating between Gampola and Colombo Fort, are likely to experience delays in commencing their journeys.
Although considerable efforts have already been made to remove the debris, clearance operations are still underway to remove the remaining earth from the affected railway tracks.
