Fairly heavy rainfall expected in parts of the island today
Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in most parts of the island after 1.00 p.m. today (18), the Department of Meteorology said.
Fairly heavy rainfalls above 75 mm are likely at some places in the Sabaragamuwa, Central and Uva provinces and in Polonnaruwa, Trincomalee and Mullaitivu districts.
Shower may occur in the coastal areas of the Puttalam, Mannar and Jaffna districts during the morning.
Meanwhile, misty conditions can be expected at some places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central and Uva provinces during the early hours of the morning, it said.
The general public has been requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damage caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
