The Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) will commence a series of grassroots meetings across the country from next week, the party’s National Organiser, Parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa has announced.
MP Rajapaksa made the announcement during a discussion held at the Parliament complex today with the party’s National Convener, D. V. Chanaka and Member of Parliament Chanaka Madugoda.
MP Rajapaksa claimed that there was strong opposition to the present administration, alleging that it was attempting to govern the country through repression.
He stated that the party intended to visit communities across the country to raise public awareness of the prevailing situation. He further noted that electoral organisers had made strong requests for the meetings to be organised promptly at the grassroots level.
MP Rajapaksa also claimed that inflation had risen to 8 per cent and criticised the government, alleging that it had no effective plan to address the situation.
