Aggamaha Panditha Senior Professor Most Ven. Dr. Gallelle Sumanasiri Thera has been appointed as the new Chancellor of the Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka.
The appointment has been made by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake while the letter of appointment was officially presented to Most Ven. Dr. Gallelle Sumanasiri Thera at the Presidential Secretariat today (23) by the Secretary to the President, Dr. Nandika Sanath Kumanayake.
A prominent Sri Lankan Buddhist scholar and academic, Most Ven. Dr. Sumanasiri Thera also serves as the Chief Incumbent of Kotamudungala Rajamaha Viharaya in Molagoda.
A former Vice-Chancellor of the Buddhist and Pali University of Sri Lanka, the Thera had previously served as the Chancellor of the Rajarata University, but later tendered his resignation from the position.
