The Wimalasurendra Reservoir began spilling today (26) following heavy rainfall reported in the Norton Bridge area since morning.
Accordingly, water levels in the Kehelgamu Oya, which flows into the Kelani River, as well as in the Kelani River itself, have risen, authorities noted.
In view of the rising water levels, authorities have urged residents in low-lying areas along the rivers and in surrounding areas to exercise heightened vigilance over the next several hours.
