A woman identified as Achini, also known as Anosha Lakmali, who was wanted in connection with the murder of ‘Kajja’, has been brought to Sri Lanka from Dubai this morning (27).
The 34-year-old woman, a resident of the Katuwana area in Middeniya, had been arrested by Dubai security authorities while hiding in the country and was subsequently remanded in custody.
A team of Sri Lankan police officers took custody of the suspect and brought her to Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) in Katunayake at around 5.20 a.m. today onboard SriLankan Airlines flight UL-226 from Dubai.
Following the recording of a statement by officers of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) at the Airport, she was taken to the Colombo CID headquarters under tight security.
Police investigations have revealed that the suspect had maintained a close relationship with ‘Kajja’.
Investigators have also found that she had made the final telephone call and sent the final text message to ‘Kajja’. She had allegedly invited ‘Kajja’ and his two children to a restaurant for a meal on the instructions of the underworld figure known as ‘Backhoe Saman’.
‘Kajja’ and his two children were subsequently shot dead when they arrived at the restaurant to have their meal.
