Sri Lanka Navy arrested another batch of 30 Indian fishermen for violating international maritime boundary laws and poaching in Sri Lankan waters.

Navy media spokesman Commander Kosala Warnakulasuriya stated that the fishermen and their 8 trawlers were taken into custody in seas off Kankesanthurai last night.

He stated that they will be taken to KKS Harbour and handed over to police for onward legal action. 

Meanwhile the 110 Indian fishermen arrested by the navy yesterday (11) have been handed over to Trincomalee Harbour Police.

Naval patrol craft attached to the Eastern Naval Command had arrested the 110 Indian fishermen and 15 Indian trawlers engaged in illegal fishing in the eastern seas of Sri Lanka.

They were taken into SLN custody in waters very close to land between Mullaitivu and Kokilai.
