Case against ex-Navy Chief Wasantha Karannagoda and Yoshitha Rajapaksa set for Nov. 23
The Colombo High Court today ordered that the corruption case filed by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) against former Navy Commander Wasantha Karannagoda and the son of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa, Yoshitha Rajapaksa be called for trial on November 23.
The order was issued by Colombo High Court Judge Ravindra Premaratne following the conclusion of the pre-trial conference in the case, Ada Derana reporter said.
The Bribery Commission filed the case against the two defendants, alleging that an offence of corruption was committed by sending Yoshitha Rajapaksa for training at the Royal Naval College in the United Kingdom despite his alleged failure to meet the required qualifications.
