Sri Lanka are set to face England in the sixth match of the Pakistan ODI Tri-Series at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore today (29), with the islanders looking to maintain their winning momentum ahead of the tournament final.
The match is scheduled to begin at 1.30 p.m. Sri Lanka time.
Sri Lanka have already secured their place in the final against hosts Pakistan, scheduled for October 31, following an impressive eight-wicket victory over Pakistan in their previous match.
Sri Lanka’s bowlers delivered a dominant performance, dismissing Pakistan for 110 runs in 25.3 overs. Left-arm fast bowler Dilshan Madushanka claimed five wickets for 34 runs, helping restrict the hosts to a modest total.
Sri Lanka then chased down the target in 18.1 overs, losing just two wickets. Kamindu Mendis top-scored with an unbeaten 62 off 60 deliveries, while Pavan Rathnayake remained not out on 23.
England, meanwhile, will be looking to end their campaign on a positive note after suffering three consecutive defeats in the tournament, which have ruled them out of contention for the final.
One of England’s most notable performances came against Sri Lanka on October 22, when captain Harry Brook scored 202 off 116 balls to help his team post 429 for four. However, Sri Lanka completed a remarkable chase of 430, winning by two wickets with one ball remaining.
England subsequently suffered a narrow one-wicket defeat against Pakistan, further denting their campaign.
With a place in the final already secured, Sri Lanka will have an opportunity to build confidence and fine-tune their preparations for the title decider, while England will be hoping to avoid finishing the series without a victory.
Sri Lanka will meet Pakistan in the final at Gaddafi Stadium on October 31.
