Man sentenced to life imprisonment over drug trafficking charges
An individual who was found guilty of possessing 24 grams of heroin and trafficking narcotics has been sentenced to life imprisonment by the Colombo High Court.
The sentence was delivered by Colombo High Court Judge Buddhika C. Ragala following a lengthy trial, Ada Derana reporter said.
The defendant was arrested in 2022 during a police raid in Mutwal, with 24 grams of heroin in his possession.
Subsequently, the Attorney General had filed indictments against him.
Delivering the verdict, the judge stated that the prosecution had proven the charges against the defendant beyond reasonable doubt.
Accordingly, the court had sentenced the individual to life imprisonment.
