FUTA to launch one-day strike tomorrow
The Federation of University Teachers’ Associations (FUTA) has decided to launch a one-day strike tomorrow (30) over several demands.
FUTA General Secretary Senior Lecturer Charudaththe Illangasinghe said the strike would be carried out across the entire state university system.
The action comes amid several concerns, including a shortage of academic staff at state universities, excessive workloads on existing staff and inadequate physical facilities.
Illangasinghe also said FUTA had planned a protest march tomorrow in parallel with the strike.
He added that the trade union action was intended to draw public attention to the challenges facing the state university system.
