Showers or thundershowers are expected in several parts of Sri Lanka after 1.00 p.m. today (31), particularly in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Uva and Southern provinces, according to the Department of Meteorology.
Kurunegala, Ampara and Batticaloa districts are also likely to experience showers or thundershowers during the afternoon, the Met. Department noted.
Meanwhile, mainly fair weather conditions are expected to prevail in other parts of the island.
The general public has been advised to take adequate precautions to minimize possible damage caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
Misty conditions may also develop in some areas of the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central and Uva provinces, as well as the Anuradhapura District, during the early morning hours, the Met. Department added.
