Minister of Land K.D. Lal kantha has instructed officials to take steps to reclaim government-owned agricultural lands that have been leased for cultivation but remain uncultivated, and allocate them for productive agricultural projects.
Attention has been drawn to the fact that although government agricultural lands have been leased to individuals and institutions for various cultivation projects and investments, some of these lands remain idle and are not being used for their intended purposes.
Accordingly, arrangements will be made to identify such lands and reclaim them in accordance with the terms of the relevant lease agreements and established legal procedures. The reclaimed lands will then be allocated for productive agricultural projects undertaken by parties with the capacity to cultivate them, the Minister noted.
Authorities have identified 135 leaseholders who are currently not cultivating their allocated lands. Steps are being taken to recover these lands and make them available for productive agricultural activities.
The initiative aims to increase agricultural production, create new investment opportunities and generate additional sources of income for rural communities.
