A Special National Dengue Prevention Week has been declared from November 9 to 14, covering 74 high-risk Medical Officer of Health (MOH) areas across the country.
The programme has been organised in view of prevailing weather patterns, dengue entomological indicators and trends in reported dengue cases over the recent period.
According to the Ministry of Health, the campaign was initially scheduled to take place from November 2 to 7. However, it was postponed to November 9–14 due to adverse weather conditions affecting the country.
The programme will be led by the National Dengue Control Unit, with the support of the Ministry of Public Administration, Provincial Councils and Local Government, the Clean Sri Lanka Secretariat, Sri Lanka Police, the tri-forces and other voluntary organisations.
The initiative aims to strengthen dengue prevention and control efforts in identified high-risk areas, the Health Ministry said in a statement.
