The Meteorological Department forecasts thundershowers over most parts of the island while heavy falls (100mm) will be likely in some areas in the Southern Province, the Disaster Management Centre reported.
The Met Department says that upper air disturbance is seen to the South-east of Sri Lanka; as such showery weather will continue over Southern half of the country.
There will be intermittent showers or thundershowers in the Central, Sabaragamuwa, Eastern, Southern and Uva provinces. Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in the Western, North-western and North-central provinces.
Fairly heavy falls (about 100mm) are likely at some places in the southern province.
It also said that there will be intermittent showers or thundershowers in the sea area off the coast extending from Trincomalee to Galle via Pottuvil.
There will be showers or thundershowers at several places in the sea area off the coast extending from Galle to Puttalam via Colombo particularly during the afternoon and night.
Winds will be North-Easterly and speed will be 20-40 kmph.
The sea areas around the island will be fairly rough at times as the wind can be strengthening up to 50kmph at times.
