Train services on the Upcountry railway line have been disrupted following a landslide early this morning (04), between Bandarawela and Heeloya.
A large quantity of earth and rocks fell onto the railway tracks near the 162/54 milepost, obstructing train operations.
An official at the Nanu Oya Railway Station said it would take approximately six hours to clear the soil and rocks from the tracks.
As a result, the Podi Menike train travelling from Nanu Oya to Badulla was operated only up to Bandarawela Railway Station today.
The official further stated that all trains scheduled to operate from Badulla to Nanu Oya today would remain suspended until the railway line is restored.
Railway authorities are expected to resume normal services once the obstruction has been cleared.
