A woman has been hacked to death inside her house in the Pussellawa Police Division, while a man who was reportedly planning to marry her has also been found dead by suspected suicide behind the same house.
Police said they had received information through the 119 Emergency Hotline that a 38-year-old woman, identified as ‘Dilani Shalika,' had been hacked to death using a sharp weapon inside her house.
Investigations have revealed that the deceased woman had previously been married but had been living alone following separation from her first husband.
She had reportedly been living with another man, a resident of the Kurunegala area, as the two were planning to get married.
The man was subsequently found hanging behind the same house.
The circumstances surrounding both deaths have not yet been established, and the Pussellawa Police are conducting further investigations into the incident.
