Special bus services have been launched jointly by the Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) and the National Transport Commission (NTC) to facilitate passengers travelling from Colombo to their hometowns for the upcoming Deepavali festival.
Deepavali falls on November 8 this year, and a large number of people are expected to travel to their hometowns from November 6, with passengers anticipated to gather at the Pettah Central Bus Stand and the private bus terminal on Bastian Mawatha.
The institution operating the SLTB's seat reservation service said that a large number of seats on buses operating from Colombo to destinations including Hatton, Talawakelle and Nuwara Eliya on November 6 and 7 have already been booked.
Meanwhile, seats on buses travelling to destinations such as Jaffna, Vavuniya, Badulla, Batticaloa and Ampara are also being booked rapidly.
Accordingly, the relevant authorities have urged passengers to make their seat reservations in advance through the website https://sltb.eseat.lk/ to avoid congestion during the festive season and ensure convenient travel.
