Parliament is scheduled to debate and approve Supplementary Estimate No. 8 of 2026, amounting to Rs. 4.261 billion, today (05), following a decision reached at the Committee on Parliamentary Business meeting held yesterday (04).
The meeting was chaired by Speaker of House Dr. Jagath Wickramaratne.
The supplementary estimate seeks approval to allocate Rs. 4,261,000,000 from the Consolidated Fund or any other government fund to the Sri Lanka Air Force for the establishment of an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) system.
The allocation is intended to strengthen the Air Force's operational capabilities in response to the changing operational environment and emerging threats arising from persistently adverse weather conditions in the Bay of Bengal and surrounding areas, which are vulnerable to natural disasters.
Meanwhile, the Trusts (Amendment) Bill is scheduled to be taken up for its Second Reading today, with the debate set to run from 11.30 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.
However, the debate will proceed only if the Bill has not been challenged before the Supreme Court under Article 121 of the Constitution.
The Committee on Parliamentary Business has also confirmed that there will be no changes to the parliamentary business scheduled for Friday (06).
