SLFP to expel local councillors who voted against budget - sources

Local government members of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP), who have voted against their respective budgets will be expelled from their party membership, SLFP sources said.
The Budgets of several local councils governed by the United People’s Freedom Alliance were defeated recently, resulting in the ruling party deciding to take action against its members who voted against the budget.
Recently the Chairman of the Embilipitiya Pradeshiya Sabha lost his position as Chairman after the vote on the budget was defeated for a second time.
The budgets of Medawachchiya, Imbulpe, Bope Poddala, Homagama and several other Pradeshiya Sabhas have also been defeated.
