Three killed, 4 injured in bus-van collision in Warakapola

At least three persons, including a woman, have reportedly died, while four others have sustained injuries following a collision between an SLTB bus and a van at Mahena, Warakapola, along the Colombo–Kandy road, police said.

The four injured individuals are currently receiving treatment at the Warakapola Hospital, said Ada Derana reporter.

Police stated that the deceased comprise two men and a woman.

The accident occurred when a van travelling from Colombo towards Kandy attempted to overtake another vehicle and collided with an SLTB bus travelling in the opposite direction, from Kandy towards Colombo.

The bus driver has been taken into police custody in connection with the accident, while the van driver has reportedly sustained injuries.
