The National Dengue Control Unit will launch a special dengue prevention programme tomorrow (09), covering 74 Medical Officer of Health (MOH) divisions identified as being at risk of a dengue outbreak.
The special dengue prevention week will continue until November 14, according to the National Dengue Control Unit.
The programme will include coordination activities across the identified MOH divisions, the deployment of joint dengue inspection teams and the removal of mosquito breeding sites from abandoned and ownerless premises.
Special cleaning campaigns will also be conducted at schools, pirivens, universities and religious institutions as part of the initiative.
A dedicated operations room will also monitor and supervise daily activities throughout the dengue prevention week.
Several government institutions and organisations will join the National Dengue Control Unit in implementing the programme.
These include the Ministry of Public Administration, Provincial Councils and Local Government, the Clean Sri Lanka Secretariat, Sri Lanka Police, the tri-forces and various volunteer organisations.
