
The low pressure area over the Bay of Bengal has intensified in to depression and is located about 250 km to the east of Trincomalee, the Department of Meteorology said today.
Therefore showery and windy conditions are expected to continue over the eastern and northern sea areas, which will be rough and dangerous, it said.
There will be showers or thundershowers at times in the sea areas off the coast extending from Mannar to Pottuvil via Jaffna and Batticaloa. Winds will be North-easterly and speed will be 30-50 kmph.
The sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Batticaloa via Jaffna and Trincomalee may be very rough at times as the winds can be strengthening up to 70-80kmph at times.
The sea areas off the coast extending from Galle to Puttalam via Colombo may also be rough at times as the wind can be strengthening up to 60kmph at times, the Met Department said.
There will be showers or thundershowers at times in the Northern, North-central and Eastern provinces. Thundershowers will occur at several places in the Sabaragamuwa, Central and Uva provinces during the afternoon and night too. Fairly heavy falls (about 75mm) are also likely at some places.
