Two nabbed with 43 fake Rs 1,000 notes

Two persons have been arrested in the Kadugannawa area for the possession of 43 counterfeit currency notes of Rs 1,000 denomination, police said today.
The suspects were transporting the fake currency on a motorcycle when they were arrested, acting on information received by Mawanella Police.
The two suspects are to be produced at the Mawanella Magistrate’s Court while police are conducting further investigations.
Meanwhile in a separate incident a 30-year-old man was arrested for the possession of a counterfeit Rs 1,000 note when he attempted to purchase goods at a shop in Nanuoya.
The shop owner had immediately contacted the police resulting in the suspect’s arrest.
