Fire destroys 80 acres of land in Marawila

Nearly 80 acres of land have been destroyed by a fire which erupted in an uncultivated field in Thotuwawa, Marawila.
A coconut cultivation spread across a 15-acre land has also reportedly been destroyed by the fire which broke out last evening.
The flames have been quelled in a joint effort by officers of the Marawila Police Station, civil defence committee workers and residents in the area while the cause of the fire is yet to be determined.
