
The UK speaking before the vote on Sri Lanka stated that Sri Lanka failed to take effective domestic action regarding war crimes allegations despite two earlier resolutions at the UNHRC encouraging them to do so.
They added that the locally inquiry body LLRC failed and that its actions were inadequate. Therefore the international community should back a clear call for an independent international investigation into the alleged war crimes allegations in Sri Lanka.
UK also noted that no one wants to see the rise of terrorism in Sri Lanka and despite claims no one regrets the defeat of the LTTE.
