The United People’s Freedom Alliance has received the highest number of votes in the Colombo District, despite the United National Party claiming victories in five polling divisions. The UPFA obtained 443,083 votes in contrast to the UNP’s 285,538 total votes.

The JVP has managed to come in third with 74,437 votes while the Democratic Party is close behind with 71,525 votes. The Democratic People’s Front has received 44,156 votes, the Sri Lanka Muslim Congress 20,163 votes and the All Ceylon Makkal Congress 15,491 votes.

This gives the UPFA 18 seats, the UNP 12 seats, the JVP 3 seats, the DP 3 seats, the DPF 2 seats, the SLMC and ACMC 1 seat each.

However, the UPFA has lost a significant 7 seats compared to the 2009 PC polls, when it won 25 seats from Colombo, while the UNP has also lost 3 seats.

The JVP has gained 2 more seats while the SLMC has retained its sole seat.  

The UNP has managed to better the UPFA in terms of votes obtained in five polling division in the Colombo Divisions, including in the Colombo North, Colombo Central, Borella, Colombo East and Colombo West polling divisions.

In Colombo North the UNP obtained 16,165 votes while the DPF came in second with 12,795. The UPFA only managed the third spot after receiving 10,873 votes while the ACMC and SLMC received 6,111 and 4,174 votes respectively.

In Colombo Central the UNP received 40,170 votes, the UPFA 17,472 votes, the DPF 8,854 votes, the SLMC 8,629 votes and the ACMC 4,480 votes.

The UNP obtained 15,302 votes in the Borella polling division while the UPFA received only 11,770 votes. The JVP received 2,908 votes while the DP ended with 1,787 votes.

In Colombo East polling division UNP received 13,092 votes, UPFA 12,806 votes, DPF 5,643 votes, JVP 3,088 votes and DP 2,496 votes.

In Colombo West polling division the UNP received 7,073 votes while the DPF came second with 5,703 votes. The UPFA managed just 4,783 votes while the DP got 1,098 votes.

In Dehiwala polling division the UPFA received 12,361 votes while the UNP obtained 11,629. The DP received 3,301 votes and DPF 2,639.

In Ratmalana polling division the UPFA received 17,396 votes, UNP 11,347 votes, DP 3,887 votes and JVP 3,621 votes.

The UPFA obtained 35,813 votes in the Kolonnawa polling division in comparison to the UNP’s 22,072 votes, JVP’s 6,112 votes, DP’s 5,637 votes and SLMC’s 2,403 votes.

The Kotte polling division result shows the UPFA with 20,217 votes and the UNP with 10,970.  The DP and JVP secured 5,024 and 4,201 respectively.



In the Kaduwela polling division the UPFA received 58,259 votes while the UNP 20,713 votes, JVP 10,659 votes and DP 10,182 votes.

In the Avissawella polling division the UPFA received 42,635 votes while the UNP only obtained 15,363. The DP got 4,297 while JVP received 4,092 votes.

The UPFA received 53,983 votes in the Homagama polling division while the UNP secured 32,890. The JVP received 9,127 votes while the DP got 6,194.

In Maharagama polling division the UPFA received 42,883 votes. The UNP amassed 14,666 votes while the DP and JVP got 9,115 and 8,504 votes respectively.

In Kesbewa polling division the UPFA secured 55,372 votes, the UNP 27,499 votes, the JVP 9,807 votes, DP 7,427

The UPFA secured 38,305 votes in the Moratuwa polling division while the UNP obtained 24,366. The DP got 5,956 and the JVP 4,848.

The postal votes for the Colombo District shows the UPFA with 8,175 votes and the UNP with just 2,221. The DP received 1,470 postal votes while the JVP only obtained 1,165.
