Woman dies after stabbing, son-in-law arrested

A 46-year-old woman was stabbed to death with a sharp object in the Iridiyapuram area in Batticaloa, police said today.
The victim was admitted to the Batticaloa Hospital after she was found unconscious on the floor of her house with several stab wounds.
However, she had succumbed to injuries while being transferred to the Colombo National Hospital.
Police said the woman’s daughter’s husband has been arrested over the murder.
Police believe that the suspect may have committed the murder on a suspicion that the victim had helped her daughter with an extramarital relationship.
