The Deputy Chairman of the Wattala-Mabole Urban Council has been arrested in connection with a recent assault incident, police said.
A man was reportedly assaulted and injured with a sharp object allegedly by supporters of the UC Deputy Chairman on April 6.
The Deputy Chairman was arrested by Wattala Police today in connection with the incident.
Wattala Police are conducting further investigations.
