The Deputy Minister of Investment Promotion, Faiszer Musthapha’s attendance and speech was well received by a crowd of over 1,000 people at the Sinhala and Hindu New Year celebrations organized by the Hounslow Temple in the United Kingdom.
“We should always try to project a Sri Lankan identity. That is something beyond Sri Lanka and we have to achieve that. Even during the war we compartmentalized within Sri Lanka and outside. But now I feel communities are working closer.”
“I believe that if one loves the country one has to think beyond race and religion. That’s what we all Sri Lankans should believe in,” he said.
The deputy minister’s speech and New Year message of social cohesion and the solidarity of a united nation went down very well with the crowd.
