Valuable gems robbed during transaction in Mawanella

Several gem stones, believed to be worth Millions of rupees, have been robbed during a transaction which had taken place at a hotel in Kadugannawa, Mawanella this afternoon.
Police said that a broker and another individual had arrived for the transaction at the hotel while the persons who had accompanied the broker had snatched the gems from his hand before fleeing in the car they had arrived in.
The actual value of the stolen gems has not been estimated yet, however they believed to be worth several million rupees.
Mawanella Police are conducting an investigation into the incident.
