18 hospitalised after wasp attack at Dikoya Temple

At least 18 persons, including 15 women, were injured and hospitalised after being attacked by a swarm of wasps at a Hindu temple in at Hatton-Dikoya estate this morning.

Ada Derana reporter said that the victims were taking part in a ‘Pooja’ at the Dikoya Temple at around 11.30am today when a nearby wasp nest was disturbed by the smoke from the temple, causing the attack.

The wounded persons were rushed to the Dikoya District Hospital following the incident while 18 of them are still receiving treatment.
