Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa met with the new Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi a short while ago.
Rajapaksa, who attended Modi’s swearing-in on Monday evening, arrived at Hyderabad House for discussion with the new head of state.
“The two leaders will hold goodwill talks to build confidence among the two nations,” reported CNN-IBN.
Pertinently, all Tamil allies of the BJP-led NDA, including MDMK and PMK, protested the visit of Rajapaksa to India.
Rajapaksa will also meet President Pranab Mukherjee later in the afternoon.
Earlier today after meeting with Afghanistan’s outgoing President Hamid Karzai, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with Maldives President Abdulla at Hyderabad House.
