The Department of Meteorology says showers or thundershowers can be expected at times in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and Central provinces and in the Galle and Matara districts today.
Showers may extend to North-Western province too, it said.
Thundershowers will develop at several places in the Uva and Eastern provinces during the afternoon or evening.
Fairly strong winds can be expected along the western slopes of the Central hills at times. There may be temporary localized strong winds during thundershowers.
The Met Department also requested the public to take adequate precautions to minimize the damages caused by lightning activities.
Showers or thundershowers will occur at times in the sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Potuvil via Colombo and Galle. Showers or thundershowers can be expected at several places elsewhere too.
The sea areas off the coast extending from Kankesanthurai to Pottuvil via Puttalam and Galle will be rough at times as the winds can be strengthening up to 60kmph at times.
The other sea areas around the island will also be fairly rough at times.
