The charred remains of a human body have been found at a wooded area near a paddy field in the Hathaaela area in Kotiyagala, police said.
The identity of the deceased is yet to be determined, however police say the remains belong to a male and believe he had passed away 4 days ago.
The remains have been forwarded to the Monaragala District Hospital for postmortem examination while Ethimale Police is conducing further investigations.
