Rear Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne appointed as Navy Chief of Staff

Rear Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne has been appointed as the Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Navy, filling the post left vacant due to the appointment of Vice Admiral Jayantha Perera as Navy Commander.

President Mahinda Rajapaksa, in his capacity as the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, has appointed Rear Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne, as the Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Navy with effect from 07th July 2014, a statement said today.

The post of Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Navy fell vacant when Rear Admiral Jayantha Perera, who held that post, was promoted to the rank of Vice Admiral and appointed as the Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy.
