
The Sabaragamuwa University will be closed until July 21 due to the prevailing inclement weather condition in the area, the Vice Chancellor Prof. Chandana P. Udawatte said.
The Department of Meteorology says that the possibility for increasing of South-west monsoonal wind speed (up to 70-80kmph) at times over the country (particularly in the Central hills) and adjacent sea areas at times is still high.
Several spells of showers will occur in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and Central provinces and in the Galle and Matara districts. Showers may spread to the North-Western province too, it said.
Sea Conditions –
Naval and fishing communities are requested to be vigilant as deep and shallow sea areas (particularly Bay of Bengal sea areas) will be very rough at times as the winds speed can be strengthen up to 70-80kmph at times.
