Three arrested with baby elephant inside lorry

Police today arrested three individuals while illegally transporting a baby elephant in a lorry from Kandy to Minneriya.
The arrests were made following an operation carried out by Matale Police, acting on information received.
The arrested suspects did not possess a permit for transporting the baby elephant or for the possession of the animal, Ada Derana reporter said.
The suspects and the baby elephant, which is suspected to have been stolen, have been handed over to Minneriya wildlife officers.
